Review: Far From Heaven (2002)

The visual look of this film is amazing. I'm so glad that I saw it in all its richness on the big screen. Julianne Moore perfectly embodies the Jane Wyman role of a perfect housewife whose perfect life is less than so, in this homage to director Douglas Sirk's 1950s melodramas. Employing the same tone and visual style of director Douglas Sirk's 1950s melodramas (All That Heaven Allows, There's Always Tomorrow) and with a pitch perfect score by Elmer Bernstein, Todd Haynes deals with issues (homosexuality and interracial relationships) that were often just below the surface but couldn't be addressed in that time period.
